Beer and wine tastings set for March 9

Carlisle, PA — GIANT Food Stores has entered into an agreement with Darrenkamp’s Markets to acquire its Willow Valley Square store located at 106 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster.

Upon completion of the sale, GIANT will temporarily close the store for a remodel that will build upon the Darrenkamp’s legacy of superior quality, service, and a warm gathering place for the community. Darrenkamp’s associates will have the opportunity to interview with GIANT.

“We’re committed to bringing more value every day to our Lancaster customers, and this store will be no exception,” continued Bertram. “It was a pleasure to work with the Darrenkamp family, and we have pledged to support the charitable organizations that the Darrenkamp family has supported over the years.”

GIANT operates eight stores in Lancaster County, employing approximately 1,300 associates.

In June, GIANT announced a $22 million investment in Lancaster County, which included launching a new e-commerce hub at its former North Reservoir St. location slated to open later this year, remodel completions at four stores, lower prices across its stores, and the opening of a new Lititz fuel station.

Serving millions of customers each week at 171 locations in four states, GIANT is also celebrating its 95th anniversary and still calls Carlisle, PA its hometown.
