Directions
About 1/2 cup serving: water: margarine or butter: salt (optional): milk: potato flakes: microwave cooking time. 2 - 2/3 cup - 1 tbsp. - 1/8 tsp - 1/4 cup - 2/3 cup - 2 to 2 1/2 minutes 4 - 1 1/3 cups - 2 tbsps. - 1/4 tsp - 1/2 cup - 1 1/3 cups - 3 to 3 1/2 minutes. 6 - 2 cups - 3 tbsps. - 1/2 tsp - 3/4 cup - 2 cups - 4 1/2 to 5 minutes. Stovetop Recipe: Heat water, margarine, and salt to a boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat. Stir in milk and potato flakes with a fork until potatoes are desired consistency. Note: for thicker potatoes, stir in additional flakes. For creamier potatoes, stir in additional milk. Microwave Recipe: Combine water, margarine, salt, and milk in a microwaveable bowl. Stir in potato flakes until just moistened; cover. Microwave on high using chart (above). Stir with fork until potatoes are desired consistency. Caution: bowl will be hot. Because microwaves cook differently, times are approximate. Helpful Hints: For thicker potatoes, stir in additional flakes slowly to desired consistency. For creamier potatoes, gradually add additional milk. Microwave cooking is not recommended for more than 4 servings. Adjust all microwave cooking times to your individual oven. Do not use an electric mixer. Add chives, bacon bits, cheese or garlic powder for a flavorful twist. Add to gravy and soups as a thickener. Keep product in a cool, dry place.
