Medication Therapy Management (MTM) is a service that is provided by the pharmacist. This service intends to reduce drug interactions, monitor for side effects from the medications, and possibly reduce the out of pocket expenditures for your medications. Health Screenings
What is a Health Screening?
It's a scheduled day of screenings held throughout Central Virginia in our pharmacies. GIANT Pharmacists or professionals from local health organizations conduct the screenings. Some of these screenings require a small fee and fasting; more information is available at your GIANT Pharmacy. Stop by today for a complete schedule of Wellness Days. If our schedule doesn't match yours, talk with your GIANT Pharmacist about scheduling an appointment for any of these screenings.
- Free blood pressure check
- Total cholesterol including HDL
- Complete lipid profile includes cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides and requires a 12 hour fast
- Blood glucose to screen for diabetes
Adult Vaccines and Immunizations

GIANT Pharmacy administers over 35,000 flu vaccines every year. Because we administer them right in our stores protecting yourself against illness is as easy as a trip to buy groceries. Our pharmacists also provide pneumococcal vaccines on a daily basis. During Fall, flu shots are available on a walk-in basis for ages 12 and up, or you can make an appointment to assure you won't have to wait.
GIANT also offers all routine adult vaccines including hepatitis A, hepatitis B, tetanus, MMR, chicken pox, meningococcal, human papilloma virus and shingles vaccines. To get any of these vaccines, call GIANT Pharmacy to set up an appointment. We'll even notify your primary care physician for you. Each of our immunizing pharmacists has successfully completed a Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recognized disease and immunization education certificate program offered through the American Pharmacists Association.
Pre-Travel Counseling
Planning a trip? Our Short Pump and Harbour Pointe locations provide special pre-travel services to help you stay healthy while you're away. Come in and tell us about yourself and your travel plans, and we'll help you determine what vaccines and medications you need before and during your trip. We'll tell you if you need to be careful with food and water; what insects you'll need to protect yourself from and how; how to avoid potential diseases; and about general safety concerns specific to your trip.
