NEW COLONIAL PARK GIANT FOOD STORE OPENS NOV. 11
GIANT adds 80 jobs to the community
Carlisle, PA. (November 1, 2016) - GIANT Food Stores today announced that the doors of its brand new Colonial Park store located at 5005 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg will open for business on Friday, Nov. 11 at 8 a.m. The store replaces the grocer's current store at 5074 Jonestown Road, which will close for business on Nov. 10 at 5 p.m.
Approximately 80 additional full and part time jobs have been created bringing the total number of Jonestown Road associates to 250. All current associates are being offered positions at the new store location.
Sherry Beitler, a 29-year grocery veteran, has been appointed store manager of the new 69,000 square foot GIANT, which will be open 6 a.m. - 12 midnight, seven days a week. Beitler recently served as store manager of the Temple, PA GIANT.
"We're really excited to open the doors to our new Jonestown Road store that showcases an easier-to-shop format, our signature fresh products with even more organics, and a Beer and Wine Eatery," said Beitler. "Our team is hard at work putting the final touches on the new store that will help our customers save time, save money and eat well."
One-stop shopping in an easy-to-shop store layout
Customers entering the store will find a new market-fresh, easy-to-shop experience that will inspire fresh ideas.
- The new store will feature a vast, open hall that has the atmosphere of a fresh market. Surrounding the produce department filled with locally-grown and organic fruits and vegetables, customers will discover other signature fresh departments including a full service meat & seafood department, the bakery department and a full salad bar.
- The Beer and Wine Eatery offers a large selection of craft, domestic and imported beer as well as a full selection of fine wine. In addition, convenient eat-in and take-out options include salads, freshly prepared sushi, subs, sandwiches and wraps.
- A Starbucks coffee bar will be adjacent to the produce department. Customers can enjoy coffee, handcrafted beverages and merchandise in the store or on the go.
Commitment to healthy living and eating well
Emphasizing GIANT'S ongoing commitment to helping customers eat well, a broad assortment of organic and free-from products is featured in the dedicated section called Nature’s Promise Marketplace. Nature's Promise is GIANT'S exclusive private label line for organic and "free from" products. Customers will find 2,500 frozen, dairy, grocery and special diet items, including a wider assortment of frozen organic and free from products.
GIANT'S in-store pharmacy features expert pharmacists available seven days a week to fill prescriptions and offer expert advice. As partners in good health, GIANT pharmacists can administer vaccines, suggest the right over-the-counter medications and help manage prescriptions. GIANT'S pharmacy also accepts most major insurance plans, can fill pet prescriptions, and offers low-cost generic and name brand prescriptions.
Caring for the Environment
With the new Colonial Park GIANT is pursuing LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The store has been constructed with innovative building technologies to reduce energy consumption and the environmental impact of operations. LED lighting will be used in many areas of the store, significantly reducing energy needs. Warm concrete floors have replaced the traditional tile, reducing the amount of cleaning solutions normally utilized.
